About

Hello and Thank You for taking the time to show interest in my blog!

I’m Kerrie and I live in Gloucestershire with my husband Bugs, (yes, you read that right) and my dog Mac.

I am hugely, boringly, passionate about British history, and in particular, historic architecture.
It has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember to own a truly historic cottage. You know the one, with the thatch and the roses round the door… the chocolate box dream.

Never did I imagine that one day we would actually buy such a property. For one thing I never thought we would be able to afford it, and for another, Bugs is a totally modern type of guy, never for one second did I think this would be the lifestyle he wanted. He’s always been more loft apartment than cottage garden…. but here we are!

In 2017, almost on the spur of the moment, we sold up our modern 3 bed semi, (that we had just completed renovating) to buy Rose Cottage in the village I grew up in. We are now embarking on a huge journey to renovate and restore this listed cottage and, (to coin a clichè) make it our forever home. We don’t have a big budget, we are, as so many people do, having to save and spend a little at a time, cutting costs where we can, and splurging when our heart demands it. I hope you enjoy following our progress as we revive Rose Cottage.
